Troubleshooting a gas lawnmower that won't start

  1. Check the fuel level. Make sure there is enough gas in the tank. If the gas tank is empty, fill it with fresh gasoline.

  2. Check the oil level. Make sure there is enough oil in the lawnmower. If the oil level is low, add oil to the engine.

  3. Check the air filter. Make sure the air filter is clean and not clogged. A clogged air filter can prevent the engine from starting. Clean or replace the air filter if it is dirty.

  4. Check the spark plug. Make sure the spark plug is clean and in good condition. If the spark plug is dirty or worn, clean or replace it.

  5. Check the battery. Make sure the battery is fully charged. If the battery is dead, charge or replace it.

  6. Check the starter cord. Make sure the starter cord is not stuck or broken. If the starter cord is stuck, free it. If the starter cord is broken, replace it.

  7. Check the carburetor. Make sure the carburetor is clean and free of debris. If the carburetor is dirty, clean it or take it to a professional for cleaning.

  8. Check the safety switch. Make sure the safety switch is in the correct position. If the safety switch is not in the correct position, move it to the correct position.

  9. Check the fuel filter. Make sure the fuel filter is clean and not clogged. A clogged fuel filter can prevent the engine from starting. Clean or replace the fuel filter if it is dirty.

  10. If none of the above steps resolved the issue, it may be necessary to take the lawnmower to a professional for further diagnosis and repair.

Please note that above steps are a general guide, always check the owner manual or repair manual for specific instructions as different models and year may have different procedures.
